Where can I find out about different grants for small towns? Building a new rec center.?
Our small town of 2600 people are forming a committee to build a new rec center/life time wellness center. We are wanting it to include an indoor pool (for use by all ages/abilities- from youth/swimming lessons/water aerobics/physical therapy/recreation,etc/ local schools could use also. and also include aerobic classes, racquetball, etc. We are just in the beginning stages, but looks like it could be around $8 million. What kind of grants are out there for this type of thing? Anyone been through this before or have advice? Thanks!
Not looking for a grant to cover the whole project (however that would be nice!) just looking for smaller grants to help with costs. Pro Bono work possibly too??
You are not going to find a $8 million grant for such a small town. Your options are to contact the appropriate departments at the county, state, and federal levels and maybe piece together a few smaller grants. But the majority of this WILL have to be financed…unless you can obtain private donations. However unless your committee is conducting business OFFICIALLY for the town, you will find that you will get no where very fast.
