Wellness Just For Puppy Dry Food
Why does my dog always want food?
He is a 5 month old Beagle/Chihuahua Mix
I feed him twice a day, once before school at like 6:30 AM and then at dinner time 6:30 PM
I give him a bowl of canned food and sometimes kibble.
We are going to start feeding him dry foods only from now on but he keeps staring at us for food.
Also when I feed him dry food only he only eats about half of it and wants something else.
When I see that he is hungry I’d try to feed him the dry kibble but he only takes 1 or 2 bites.
We are feeding him Blue Buffalo Life Protection Puppy Formula dry food and Wellness canned food.
Is he just picky about what he wants to eat?
First let me say, good job on what dog food you are feeding him. Wellness and Blue Buffalo are great dog foods. I think he is still a bit young, to only be feeding him twice a day. But, I realize you may not be able to do that. You don’t say exactly how much you are feeding him each time, so it is hard to answer the question.
Give him more food, and give him dry food with a little warmed can food on it. Most dogs will only want the can food, so that is probably why he is holding out. Gradually take him off the can if you want, but for now, give him more dry food with warm wet mixed in. Let him eat as much as he can in about 15-20 and if there is anything left, take it away. Don’t feed him anything else until the next meal. He will quickly learn that he had better eat when the food is in front of him. I just got a puppy and I feed her dry Wellness and some Wellness can on it, she eats it up like crazy.
