Wellness Indoor Cat Formula
My cat’s Blue Buffalo Indoor formula is too rich for her, what now?
I want to feed her an all natural pet diet. I tried switching her to only canned, but she is very picky and won’t eat it all unless she gets dry too(and then she still doesn’t finish it). She is a year and 4 mo old siamese mix I adopted back in October; she is 6 pds and very tiny. She wont eat anything that isn’t small enough to chew and she won’t eat people food or cat snacks(yes,she is a strange one) so raw is out. The vet recommended Royal Canin but I’m hesistant to try it…any suggestions?
Oh, and she doesn’t eat wellness either, I think because it isn’t tasty to her :/ She just nibbles it.
The last thing you want to feed a Siamese is a diet high in corn – and the Royal Canin is very high in corn – as many Siamese cannot eat it. What you may need to do is ‘cut’ the Blue with something less rich until she gets used to it. It can take a week or two, or even up to a month, for their systems to get used to a high quality diet. And no matter how good a food, is, not every food will agree with every cat. Try mixing the Blue with a ‘lesser’ food like Petsmart’s Authority brand, or something like Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover’s Soul. Once she is able to eat that mix, then slowly increase what you want her to eat and decrease the other. If she still doesn’t seem to be able to eat the Blue, then try some other ‘good’ brands like Taste of the Wild, or Merrick’s Before Grain.
