Wellness In Older Adults
What supplement should my 1 year old German Shepherd take?
Not to be rude just wanted German Shepherd owners vets to answer this. She will be 1 on the the 29 this friday. I am switching her to adult food and she been on Wellness for large breeds since we had her. Wanted to see what is a good mixture of supplements to keep her in good health thank you. Any suggestion amounts would be great.
also I move from Hawaii to Wa state on sat. My dog will be flying for the first time and I know it would be a weather change. Is there anything I should be aware of once we are in WA. I am going to take her to vet once I get there to see how she will adapt thank you.
She should be on a glucosamine/chondroitin supplement to help prevent joint problems later on. A good one is Cosequin,but you can buy the human equivalent,Cosamin DS,for about half the price,and it is the same thing. Salmon oil is also very good for the dog’s entire body – the skin,coat, joints,eyes,kidneys,brain,etc. For a GSD, 2000 mg a day would be a good dose. These are what my GSD takes and she is 9 years old with no joint problems at all. She eats Holistic Select Radiant Adult Health Anchovy,Sardine and Salmon formula; Merrick,and Whole Earth Farms dry foods,and Bil-Jac frozen,plus canned ( Blue,Merrick,etc) and healthy human foods and scraps ( meat,eggs,cottage cheese,yogurt,pasta,veggie,etc.).
As for adjusting to the weather in Washington,she should be fine because it is cooler than in Hawaii.
