Wellness Dry Cat Food Recall
High protein kitten food supplemented with NV raw? Good choice?
I have two kittens, a female Siamese that is about 3 months old, and a male gray tabby that’s about 4 months. Currently they are on Wellness Kitten Blend. At the pet store I saw Wellness CORE formula. http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/wellness/cat_wellness_dry_core.html
Basically, it is a high protein, no grain dry food. Wellness only uses premium ingrediants and has not been affected by the recalls.
I have also been very interested in Nature’s Variety raw diets. I bought a small bag, and both cats seemed to enjoy them.
Would feeding the CORE and supplementing with the raw be a good idea? I want them to be on the best possible diet, so any advice would be awesome! Thanks!
If I do this, I am planning on the morning meal be dry, and the night meal be raw.
This is what I think – Since both Wellness and Natures Variety both contain all the nutrients that a cat will need, you should be able to supplement and it will all be good.
I feed my cats three different kinds of high- quality cat food, dry kibble in the morning and at night. 3oz of wetfood (for two cats) when I get home from work, and then 1 medallion per cat of natures variety frozen raw food an hour before I go to bed. They eat the wet and raw food right away, but graze on the dry throughout the day. My cats are doing wonderful on this diet!
