Weight Loss Tips Around The World

I read this article on yahoo news about fasting being a good thing to do OCCASIONALLY!?
I’ve heard a lot of people who say that you will only gain weight if you starve yourself because then your body conserves calories and you don’t burn them off as quickly as you would if you ate healthy food, but on this article on yahoo news it had tips for weight loss (from around the world) and one of them was fasting. The person who wrote the article said that fasting on OCCASION! was a good idea because most Americans today don’t really get hungry, they just float from one meal to the next without actually thinking about whether or not they are hungry and fasting can help them. Is that true? If so, how does it help?
P.S. Please don’t think I am trying to be anorexic or anything, I am just curious. Thanks!
No offense to whoever wrote that article, but I think that’s a bunch of crap.
Your metabolism is kind of like a fire; the more fuel you give it, the more it burns (to an extent). This is why when you severely restrict your intake, your body will eventually slow down body processes in order to conserve energy. One of the processes that is slowed is metabolism.
So essentially, fasting could potentially slow your metabolism, not to mention set you up for a big binge because your body will be craving food once you start to eat again. Your best bet for weight loss is to eat small healthy meals every 2-3 hours. This will keep your metabolism and energy levels up.
