Weight Loss Machines For Hire

How should I go about weight training?
Hello, I’m 6’3 and 285 pounds. I have started to take care of myself and excercise each day. I was 305 at my heaviest. I’m losing 10 pounds a month. I do an hour of cardio everyday.
I have just begun weight training. I never want to be a body builder, or anything of the like. I do, however, want to put on some muscle and not end up all squishy after my weight loss.
I don’t have the resources to hire a personal trainer…
I was wondering what would be best for me, if machines or free weights, dumbbells etc….? What kind of resistance excercises should I be doing? Should I be drinking protein powder, or should I lose some more weight first?

I have a machine/free weight set. Protein powder will make you gan weight but it will be in muscle.JUST DON’T OVER TRAIN.
