Weight Loss Exercise Programs For Beginners

How to maximize weight loss / running question.?
I’m 18, 5’5″ and 140 lbs. About 3-4 weeks ago I started working out almost every day, usually doing 35 minutes of cardio, abs and either weights for arms or legs. I’ve started eating better too, I’ll have a protein shake for breakfast, a salad or a wrap for lunch and I’ll try to be healthy for dinner, with fruits and veggies in between. I lost five pounds right away, and now I’m the same, but I’m just wondering about my exercise. I looked at running world.com and they have this beginner program where you run 2 minutes, walk 4 minutes. After doing that for a week I moved on to running 2 minutes walking 3 minutes, and it’s still just as hard as it was, if not harder, and I feel so weak! Also, would it be better to swim or run if I wanted to slim down more?
As a beginner the immediate weight loss that you had was probably due to water weight. The exercise regimen sounds good, as it is a interval workout. These workouts raise your heartbeat by making you run, walk, run, and then walk. It efficiently burns more fat than a regular cardio workout where you just jog straight on through.
If you want to lose weight you have to manage your diet with good carbs and good fats. Although it does sound like you are on a good diet, are you kicking soda and other high caloric drinks to the curb? Are you paying attention to your stomach and stopping when you are full? Little things can make a big difference when it comes to dieting. If you stick in there you will see progress!
In my opinion swimming is a better overall body workout, but I get so tired so fast that I feel like I don’t burn enough calories. Running on a machine gives me an accurate calorie read when I can input my weight, age, and height.
I have faith that you will start seeing changes soon. Even if you don’t lose weight it doesn’t mean that you’re body is not changing. Keep in mind, muscle weighs more than fat but is much more compact.
