How long does it take to lose weight with PCOS while taking Metformin?
started taking Metformin and the pill last summer to treat PCOS. In November, I discontinued the pill and after noticed weight loss. I wasn’t sure if it was because of that or mostly because of the Met. I stopped taking Met in May of this year, during my 5th month of pregnancy. I had continued to lose weight up until I stopped taking it (which was ok, because I was overweight).
I’m now 5 months post partum and have been back on Metformin for about a month, but have actually gained a couple of pounds. I don’t eat much sugar and am trying to keep away from carbs, which is my biggest vice. I’m also breastfeeding, so I don’t want to diet in a drastic way. Has anyone had to wait a while before losing weight with PCOS while taking Metformin? I currently take 500 mg twice per day.

As you say, just 5 months post partum you don’t want to lose weight drastically. Be patient, you will lose the weight. If not, perhaps your doctor will increase the dose. But for now, best you focus on your baby for another 6 months.
