Weight Loss Advice Nhs
I am Morbidly Obese with an eating disorder and serious mental health problems, how can I lose weight?
Due to my eating disorder, and the fact that I take a catalogue of prescription medicines for mental health problems, all of which have listed side effects as weight gain or increased appetite, when I feel down I binge eat, so xenical medicine doesn’t really help with that, I am entitled to weight loss surgery on the NHS as my BMI is above the required limit, but they won’t give it to me because I have mental health problems, so I’m stuck in a rut. I am not looking for smart arse answer’s like stop eating, or any miracle cures, just advice from anyone in a similar situation, on how I can help myself.
Hello. I honestly think that one thing begets the other. I do not recommend the surgery. It is risky, and people DO gain the weight back. In my opinion, you should work on healing after you get OFF of all the meds. It will be a long process for you.
Get off the meds, and then let your body heal, and THEN worry about losing weight.
