Healthy snacks for a teen girl for healthy weight gain?
I’m 5’1″, 15, female, and weigh about 87 or 88 pounds. First of all, does anyone think that I would look a little too small? I stopped menstruating last July and my doc believes it because of rapid weight loss (I weighed 93 to 98 pounds at the age of 14–it fluxuated but I didn’t really care at the time). Last summer, I tried hard to lose weight and now for health reasons, I’ve been told to gain. It’s hard, though, because I eat a high-cal dessert every night so I don’t want to eat junk in the day, you know? I need to gain weight, but I don’t want to be unhealthy..I’ve never been a junk-food “junkie.” I love fruits…what are some desserts I could make that are healthy? Any websites with nutritional info? I’m also vegetarian.
Hey there, to answer your question I do think your too small, sounds like your doctor is agreeing with that as well. I have never been much of a junk-food junkie either, here is a site with a ton of good very healthy meals you can take a look at, they include all the calorie information for you as well. You will want to findout what your BMI is and make sure you are eating enough calories, there are a lot of longterm problems caused by not getting enough nutrients in your body, if your menstral cycle stopped from your body starving, there is a chance of infertility that can come with that. Make sure your eating enough food, make sure your getting protein and fiber too. If your a vegetarian there is a chance your not getting enough protein which can be part of yoru problem.
