Rapid Weight Loss Tablets
has anyone ever taken topiramate?
my doctor has prescribed me these tablets and said that it may cause rapid weight loss, what other side affects are there and has anyone that has taken these lost weight?

I’m not sure if there is some misunderstanding or not… but Topiramate is an anticonvulsant that would be prescribed for Epilepsy or similar ailments. http://www.drugs.com/ppa/topiramate.html does list that under “unlisted uses” (meaning it’s not the main point, but some may take it for) that:
“Adjunctive therapy for bipolar disorder, alcohol and cocaine dependence, binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa, cluster headaches, infantile spasms, weight loss or obesity, and smoking”
http://www.drugs.com/cdi/topiramate.html also points out a very long list of side effects, so I wouldn’t use this solely for weight loss. However, if I misunderstood the question and you are using it for an anticonvulsant, I would discuss your concerns with your doctor. I don’t imagine you would lose a ton of weight, but you might just need to watch what you eat (meaning to make sure you eat enough and take 3 meals daily, even if you aren’t hungry).
