Rapid Weight Loss Ketosis
Rapid weight loss in cow and horse!?
My sister works at a dairy farm, where they also have a handful of horses. She just texted me asking to look for conditions that affect both cows and horses as one cow and one horse both lost what looks like nearly 200 pounds OVERNIGHT. I cannot find anything in our multiple veterinary books nor on the internet. She also asked me to look up acetonemia (which I think is called ketosis in cattle?) but this apparently does not affect horses.
They are wormed regularly. All of their vaccines are up to date. This is a dairy farm that fills government quotas… it’s quite regulated.
I’m not sure… does she worm them regularly? They could have a parasite.
