Is bone removal considered plastic surgery?
I have a pretty strange question. I have scoliosis and 10 years ago I had the spinal fusion to correct it. They removed some bits of the bottom few ribs on my right side to grind up and put in with the rods to help my body adapt and accept them. However… I’m now losing weight (On my second week of P90x) and I’m finding it a bit disturbing to realize that the left side of my bottom ribs stick out more than the right side. When I’m laying on my back or wearing just a bra it’s quite noticeable.
Would it be out of the question to consider getting the left side ‘reduced’ or broken to match? Would I see an orthopedist like who did my surgery in the first place or a plastic surgeon? I’m loving the weight loss but it’s not really going to be worth it if people still giggle when they see me in a swim suit cause I’m lopsided! LOL
“…bone removal..” <--I freaked out when I saw that LOL! But I understand now after reading the whole question.
But no! I think plastic surgery is when you put something fake (hence, plastic) in your body. You're just removing bone. You're not putting anything fake 
And I think you should see your orthopedist. He knows more about your bone problem and can help you find a solution to correct your crooked bone.
