Pain killers – weight gain?
I have been trying to lose weight for 10 months now through healthy eating and have lost 50lb. However I have severe shoulder pain and have to take strong painkillers to get any relief at all. The trouble is they inhibit weight loss and maybe even contribute to weight gain.
Can anyone recommend any steps I can take to combat this, any pain killers and anti-inflamatories which don’t hinder weight loss or any herbal remedies which are very good for joint pain?
I have tried acupuncture, physiotherapy, tense machine, reflexology, hydrotherapy and massage to no avail and excercise just makes me worse.

Trust me I have tried swimming, heat/cool packs and all sorts of rubs along with massage and I also hate taking painkillers – i’m at my wits end.
You need to drink more water. Pain killers also can constipate you and this can lead to gaining weight because your bowels are not functioning properly. Ideally you should go to the bathroom after every meal. A good colon cleanse may help. Go to your local health food store for more information. For me strong pain killers lead to a weight loss. I really didn’t feel like eating. So I guess everyone is different. This brings me back to drinking more water. Distilled is the best for flushing your body of the toxins that build up from the medication. I hope you find something to help you continue to loose or at least maintain. Congratulations on loosing the 50 lbs. That is a great accomplishment. You should be very proud of yourself.
