Extreme Weight Loss Excess Skin
Will I have excess body tissue after I lose weight?
I’m not obese. I’m 6 foot, 208 pounds. I was 225 pounds when i started. Ideal weight is 175-180 so I still am a little chubby. I’ve seen some pretty extreme cases of excess skin/body tissue after excessive weight loss. I know I won’t be like that but my question is since I was a little overweight will I still have extra/more tissue/skin than someone who was never overweight? Even if it’s not noticable? I’m 20 years old so I’m assuming the extra skin/tissue will go away over time but I’m not a doctor so I don’t know for sure. Any information is helpful.

Having extra skin will depend in part on how much you lose, how fast you lose it, and your age.
Extreme weight loss almost always results in extra skin (esp if the person was very heavy for a long time).
Very fast weight loss of a significant amount, can result in extra skin (that happened to me…I lost 90 lbs too fast and now I’ve got some flab)
If you are older (which isn’t your issue) your skin tends to lose some of its elasticty and so loose skin can result from a fair amount of weight loss.
At your age, with you wanting to lose a total of around 50 lbs, if you take it slow (no more than 3 lbs/wk) then you should be able to avoid having much, if any, extra skin. Be sure to do some strength training too so you can put some muscle into that skin in place of the fat. ☺
