Have you had a bad experience with Banfield Vet Clinics?
I wanted to know if what experiences others have had because I am OVER that clinic. We have three pets signed up and on the 1st time we needed to see a Vet for a bad earache in one of our dogs, the Vet did not show up and the next day was a holiday. We had to wait TWO EXTRA DAYS to get in. When we did, after FIVE HOURS, and no treatment, they went on to see walk in wellness pts. STILL no treatment. They were very rude, the Vet made a rude comment hrs before this and the dog still was not seen so we picked her up and paid out of pocket to see another Vet outside Banfield. THEN we tried to transfer to another store but they wanted to charge us another months payment to transfer within their system! This was contrary to what we had been told. The only way out is to pay an exobitant amount of bloated charges for services rendered. I wouldn’t recommend this clinic TO ANYONE. Has anyone else tried to get out of their contract for mistreatment of pets and dissatifaction of services?
Many many people have. I think that if you search online you will find a lot about them and the lawsuits against them.
You can complain to your state Office of Veterinary Medicine if you feel you have encountered professional malfeasance (misdiagnosis, etc) there.
I could never recommend Banfield. The pay their professional staff poorly, so all they get to work for them are the inexprienced and the incompetent.
In addition to misdiagnosing and incorrectly treating illnesses, they overvaccinate and they charge for diagnostic elements that are free as part of a regular exam at other vets. They also charge their clients several dollars per hypodermic syringe for “medical waste disposal.” In reality, the needles of the syringe are broken off into a sealed container about the size of a two-liter soda bottle, which is taken away by a disposal company when it is full. Imagine how many hypodermic needles (needles only, not the plastic part, which is thrown away in ordinary trash) it takes to fill that container. The fee for disposing of that entire container is about $30. Banfield changes the clients almost $4 for each needle.
It’s a shame and a crime how they overcharge people who only want to help their pets. It hurts the reputation of all vets and their staffs.
